CHILDREN’S MINISTRY VOLUNTEER APPLICATION

Thank you for your interest in Children’s Ministry. For safety purposes, each volunteer must go through a screening and approval process before they can work with children. Below is the checklist of items required before you are approved.

Children’s Ministry Volunteer Requirements

• Volunteers will be considered after attending West Side for at least six months and/or completing the Connections Class.
• Read the Child, Student and Volunteer Protection Policy and the Children’s Ministry Covenant.
• Submit a signed Children’s Ministry Covenant. If you are unable to sign the Covenant you will not be considered for volunteering.
• Submit a Children’s Ministry Volunteer Application.
• Personal references will be checked.
• Participate in a personal interview with a Children’s Ministry Director.
• Complete and successfully pass a confidential National background check.
• These background checks shall be kept confidential. Those failing to pass may, with pastoral approval, be directed toward other ministries.
• Background check exemptions may be made for prospective workers, visiting parents, and one time special events. These individuals must have permission, and remain in group settings with other approved workers.
• Serve with the approval of the Elementary Ministry Director or Early Childhood Director.
• Name placed on the approved volunteer list.
